Bath Salts, a designer drug speculated to potentially be the substance which sent Rudy Eugene in a rage, biting and ripping the flesh off of Ronald Poppo’s face during Memorial Day weekend on the MacArthur Causeway – naked. North Miami Beach is host to the arrest of a man named Shane Shuyler, with ‘bath salts‘ in his possession.
Like Rudy, this man had removed the majority of his clothing, wearing only his boxers in a children’s park right behind the North Miami Beach Police Station. According to reports, Shuyler approached a little girl, beckoning her several times and made a lewd comment about wanting to have sex with the child. The child and mother got out of there, but Shuyler is shown on surveillance video approaching another family, then hiding under a giant castle which houses a slide for the children.
During his court appearance, Shuyler is told that an order has also been issued barring him from any place children congregate, including playgrounds, parks, schools, etc. Looking wild-eyed and frantic, Shane explains to the judge he understands. He is currently being held for psychiatric evaluation at Jackson Hospital pending arraignment on a number of charges, including several counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 16.
